UNIX Systems Administrator
The general installation, maintenance and support of 85 UNIX Systems within a high-availability environment.
- Project Lead for Technology Refresh Project. Responsible for the migration of 4 Terabytes of data from EMC Symmetrix 3430/3930 to newer EMC 8530/8830. Project was completed one month ahead of schedule resulting in substantial cost savings for the company. Project was recognized by CIO and identified among the top 15 IT Projects of the year for UPS-SCS.
- Project Lead in performance testing at HP CPC Facility for new Customs Brokerage Application. Testing was performed across different hardware configurations including 32/64-way Superdomes. Due to the high costs associated with this hardware, an alternative hardware solution was adopted.
- Project Lead for system support of Shipping, Warehousing, and Customs Brokerage Applications. Duties included initial software installation and release of upgrades/enhancements to existing development and production software.
- Configured Global Business Systems (Operational Finance System) consisting of 22 servers over 17 countries. Responsibility included being sent on a production emergency to Caracas, Venezuela. This country was under political turmoil during go-live with this project. Under my direction, the server was built, configured to North American specifications and was active during the period of unrest.
- Participated in disaster recovery drill at SunGard Facility in Philadelphia, PA. Successfully recovered four UNIX hosts and applications using Legato Networker.
- Received end-user, as well as application programmer requests for various systems projects. Projects were always completed in a timely manner and customer requests fully satisfied.
- Provided training and documentation to fellow Admins for support of newer products/applications. Responsible for mentoring junior UNIX Administrators.
- Shell scripting for task automation. Also written application monitors, and restart/shutdown scripts for Operations personnel.

Responsible for coordinating the time-sensitive movement of ammunition and equipment within this region. - Accounted for the arrival and departure of military and civilian shipping containers from port of entry (Bremerhaven, Germany) to military bases.
- Planned the movement of personnel and equipment during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
